| Katherine S. Bellows, M.Ed. & Ed.S., Executive Director of the Office of International Programs (OIP), has been in the field of international education for 25 years. She started her career teaching secondary school and then entered the Peace Corps in 1983 volunteering as a math teacher in Botswana. Her graduate study at the University of Florida (UF) was in the field of Counseling Education with a specialization in Cross-Cultural Psychotherapy. She received her M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees in 1988. Ms. Bellows became an International Student Counselor and advisor at UF and was hired in 1989 as the Assistant Director of International Student Services at Louisiana State University. Ms. Bellows became Director of International Student and Scholar Services at Georgetown University in 1991, Assistant Dean in 1995, and was Acting Director of the Office of International Programs for the 2000-2001 academic year. In 1999 and 2000, she was the chair of NAFSA: Association of International Educators's national Committee on Immigration Policy and Practice, and NAFSA's 1st National SEVIS Coordinator from January 2002 to July 2002. From July 2002 until December 2004, Ms. Bellows served as the Vice President of Public Affairs for NAFSA. Lisa D. Donatelli, Director of Global Strategies, rejoined the Office of International Programs in 2008. Ms. Donatelli holds a B.S. in German from Georgetown University, an M.A. in Education and Human Development (International Education focus) from the George Washington University, and an Education Specialist degree in Human and Organizational Learning from the George Washington University. She began her work in international education at the Office of International Programs in 1993. Since 2000, she has held such positions as the Director of Overseas Studies at Georgetown University, the Director of International Education at Bucknell University, and the Director of International Programs at Rollins College. She is active in the field and has served on the NAFSA Public Policy and Practice Committee, on the National Advisory Boards for Arcadia University's Center for Education Abroad and IFSA-Butler, and on external review committees for institutions such as Eckerd College, Rhodes College, Union College, and the University of Wisconsin-Plattsville. In her role as the Director of Global Strategies, she is responsible for working closely with other campus leaders and international partners to identify new synergies and strategic international initiatives to enhance Georgetown's global presence. Vanessa Meyers, Senior Business Manager, rejoined the Office of International Programs after spending six years in the SFS Dean's Office at Georgetown. Ms. Meyers received her B.A. from Georgetown's McDonough School of Business in 1999. She is currently pursuing her M.S. in Education specializing in Leadership for Higher Education. Ms. Meyers is responsible for the financial management of the Office of International Programs. Joan Wilson, Administrative and Fiscal Officer, is responsible for maintaining the financial and registration aspects of the study abroad programs. Ms. Wilson has been with the Office of International Programs for 22 years. Maria-Elena Hernandez-Aguilar, Office Coordinator and Project Assistant Deborah Brown, Executive Assistant, rejoined OIP in August 2008. After working in the Division of Overseas Studies at GU for 13 years as an advisor and, later as an associate director, she left GU to accept positions at IDP Education Australia and then at Study Australia. Ms. Brown has a B.A. degree in French and Education from Duke University and a Masters degree in Student Development from American University. As the assistant to the Executive Director of OIP, she researches special issues concerning Georgetown's presence abroad, coordinates OIP's work with other University departments, and supports the work of the director. |
