The language of coffee is universal – but even coffee has an accent. In celebration of another successful semester of the Language Exchange Program, we invite you to stop by our first-ever coffee tasting. Come chat with other program participants and international students as you sip coffee and enjoy treats from around the world, from rich African roasts to Italian espresso and biscotti. Not yet involved in the Language Exchange Program but worried about finals and proficiency exams? Never fear- we will provide request forms for conversation partners so that you can start “exchanging” languages as soon as possible!

Coconut Daughters: South African Women and Girls – Healy 104– 6:00- 8:00 PM

The Diversity Action Council will be showing a Coconut Daughter’s film, The Only Road to Khayelitsha (kai-uh-LEE-cha), a story about a South African 15-year-old girl named Thuli who dreams of life beyond her township. Founded by three sisters passionate about the arts and storytelling, Coconut Daughters has grown into an expert creative team. One of the sisters, Joylynn Holder, is a Georgetown Alumna. She will be returning to the Hilltop to screen this film and to lead a discussion immediately following. Making this film involved months of interviews with the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC), South Africa's leading human rights organization. Veterans of the Apartheid struggle revealed that violence, poverty, and HIV/AIDS are part of the everyday life of women and girls in South Africa. This film explores not only their suffering but also their dreams. For more information please go to: http://www.coconutdaughters.com/.
