The Georgetown University Language Exchange Program (LEP) is a free service provided through the Office of International Programs (OIP) designed to connect individuals who wish to practice and improve their foreign language skills. Participants volunteer their services and the Office of International Programs facilitates the introductions. Accordingly, Georgetown University is not in a position to endorse the quality of the experience, and cannot assume responsibility for any aspect of the program.
Once an LEP Partner Request Form is received and a compatible partner has been found, the participants will be notified via email. By independently scheduling meetings to talk and practice, the participants benefit from each other's knowledge. There are no fees for the Language Exchange Program and request forms may be submitted at any time throughout the year.
Please note: If one or more of the language partners is a Georgetown student, scholar, or staff member, LEP meetings must take place on Georgetown's campus (37th and O Streets, NW). This is to ensure both safety and convenience.
Please see the LEP Conversation Guide for tips on where to meet and how to approach your first meeting.
To request a Language Exchange Partner, please complete the online form. Please expect an email response within one week of submitting your form.
Please note: This program is recommended for participants with at least an intermediate language proficiency (2nd year) and is limited to those individuals living in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.
For more information, please contact Ms. Stephanie Hertz, LEP Program Coordinator.
