Kate Billings International Student and Scholar Advisor kab85@georgetown.edu Kate Billings joined the Office of International Programs in August 2005. She earned a B.A. in French and English from The University of Georgia in 1999 and studied in Montpellier, France during her senior year. Ms. Billings received her M.A. in International Communication from American University in May 2004. As an International Student and Scholar Advisor, Ms. Billings currently advises all Ph.D. candidates, MSFS students, OIP Exchange students, SFS-Q students, Fellows in Foreign Service students, Medical students, J-1 scholars on the Main Campus, and both J-1 students and scholars at the Law Center. She also advises students and scholars in all CLED programs and is the OIP contact for J-1 scholars sponsored by non-Georgetown organizations. top |
Melanie Buser International Student and Scholar Advisor meb52@georgetown.edu Melanie Buser joined the Office of International Programs in November 2002. Ms. Buser graduated from the University of Michigan in April 2001, receiving her B.A. in Organizational Studies. She worked for the University of Michigan in Academic Advising prior to joining OIP. Ms. Buser advises all F-1 and J-1 undergraduate students and all Master’s candidates, with the exception of MBA and MSFS. top |
Karen Chevrier Immigration Technology Advisor kvc3@georgetown.edu Karen Chevrier joined the Office of International Programs in June 2004. She graduated from the Institut Superieur de Communication in Paris where she received her M.A. in Global Communication. Arriving in the United States in January 2001, Ms. Chevrier worked with the English Language Institute at the University of Florida, Gainesville. She spent over two years in Boston teaching in the Public School System before moving to the D.C. area to work in technical administration at George Mason University. Ms. Chevrier manages the student immigration database to ensure University compliance with Department of Homeland Security regulations and advises Summer and Special Program students (with the exception of CLED students) and Ophthalmic Training students. top |
Stephanie Hertz Program Coordinator shh28@georgetown.edu Stephanie Hertz joined the Office of International Programs in June 2007. She earned a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003 and studied in Saint Louis, Senegal during her junior year. Ms. Hertz received her M.A. in International Communication from American University in May 2007. As Program Coordinator, Ms. Hertz advises the International Student Association and the Global Living Community. She also coordinates the division's orientation programs, the Language Exchange Program, and social and cultural events for the international student and scholar community. top |
Sandra Layton Director of International Student and Scholar Services sjg@georgetown.edu Sandra Layton (SLL '93) Ms. Layton has been with the Office of International Programs since July 1999. She is a graduate of the School of Languages and Linguistics at Georgetown and spent her junior year abroad in Lyon, France. She earned her M.A. in International Training and Education from American University in January 1998. As Director, Ms. Layton oversees the Division of International Student and Scholar Services and advises international researchers, faculty and staff in J-1 and H-1B statuses at the Medical Center, and researchers, faculty and staff in O-1, TN or PR status. top |
Rachel Rubin Assistant Director and International Student and Scholar Advisor rubinr@georgetown.edu Rachel Rubin holds a B.A. in Latin American Studies from Smith College and earned her M.A. in Latin American Studies at Georgetown University in 1993. She has worked at Georgetown since January 1994, serving as the Administrative Director for the Center for Latin American Studies and Assistant to the Dean in what is now the School for Continuing Studies. She joined the Office of International Programs as an Overseas Studies Advisor for the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey and the Middle East, and became an International Student and Scholar Advisor in the spring of 2002. Ms. Rubin is the Assistant Director to IS and advises all MBA students, SCS Master's students, researchers, faculty, and staff in H-1B status on the Main Campus, and J-1 students sponsored by non-Georgetown organizations. top |
Giovanna Ubillus Information Management Coordinator gu3@georgetown.edu Giovanna Ubillus joined the Office of International Programs in August 2004. Originally from Lima, Peru, she studied Government and International Politics at George Mason University and Web Design and Development at the Georgetown Unviersity Center for Continuing and Professional Education. Ms. Ubillus serves as the first point of contact for immigration inquiries to the division of International Student and Scholar Services and is responsible for managing immigration document processing. Ms. Ubillus is in charge of the design and development of the ISSS website as well as providing critical overall support to international students and scholars. top |
