After You Have Been Admitted: Next Steps for Non-U.S. Citizens

This page is for international students who have been admitted into a program at Georgetown University. To apply for admission to Georgetown University, please contact the appropriate admissions office. All admitted non-U.S. citizens (including U.S. Permanent Residents) must complete an International Student Immigration Questionnaire (IQ).  Students applying for an F-1 or J-1 visa must also provide additional documentation in order to facilitate the issuance of an I-20 or DS-2019 Form for the visa interview.

Winter Break Announcement
OIP will be closed from December 24 to January 3. During this time, immigration documents will not be processed. Please submit the Immigration Questionnaire and supporting documentation with enough time to process the immigration document (approximately 1-2 weeks) and apply for the visa.

Permanent Residents, Other Visa Types, & Non-GU Sponsored J-1 Visa Holders
If you will be studying at Georgetown in a status other than F-1 or J-1 or you will be studying in F-1 or J-1 status with documents provided by a non-Georgetown sponsor, complete the online Immigration Questionnaire.
If you will request an I-20 or DS-2019 Form from Georgetown University to:
  • transfer your F-1 or J-1 status from a U.S. institution to Georgetown
  • apply for an F-1 or J-1 visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad
  • change status within the United States
You must complete an Immigration Questionnaire and submit additional supporting documentation in order to facilitate the issuance of the immigration document.
