Freeman-ASIA Awards for Study in Asia
Requirements:
The Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) are available for undergraduates to study in East and/or Southeast Asia. Students must be US citizens or permanent residents. In order to participate, students must demonstrate financial need. Priority will be given to students with no previous experience in Asia. As a condition of the awards, upon return to the US, students must agree to promote study in Asia by sharing their experiences with peers on their home campuses and in their communities and submit a report including the implementation of the service requirement.

Federal Scholarships for Study in China

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Council funding under the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program to provide financial assistance to students participating in the Chinese language programs offered by the Council Study Centers at Peking University, East China Normal University, Nanjing University and National Chengchi University.

Application Deadlines:       
Summer, Fall and Academic Year programs: April 1
Spring and Calendar Year programs: November 1

Summer, Fall and Academic Year programs: First week of May

Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO)
Eligibility:
Students must be accepts to a Georgetown-sponsored exchange program in Japan for the semester or academic year. Applicants may not be Japanese citizens or dual Japanese/U.S. citizens. Awarded students will receive a stipend of 80,000 yen per month; settling-in allowance of 25,000 yen; and round-trip airfare from the city where the U.S. university is located.

ATJ Bridging Scholarship for Study in Japan

Eligibility:
The ATJ Bridging Scholarship is available to undergraduate students who are US citizens or permanent residents planning to study in Japan for the semester or the academic year. Students majoring in any field of study may apply. Japanese language study is not a prerequisite.

Monbusho Scholarships
Eligibility:
The Monbusho (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship is a prestigious one-year scholarship offered by the Japanese Government. Applicants eligible for this scholarship must be majoring in Japanese languages, culture, or a closely related subject. Applicants must be between 18 and 30 yearsold and may not be Japanese citizens.

ACTR/ACCELS Grants
Requirements:
The ACTR/ACCELS grants provide undergradute students partial funding to support language training in Russian and other East European and Central Asian languages on study abroad programs sponsored by ACTR/ACCELS. Students interested in applying must be either U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Fall and Academic Year programs: October 15
Summer programs: March 1
Spring programs: April 1

DAAD: Information for Foreign Nationals

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is an association of higher education institutions and student bodies in the Federal Republic of Germany. The DAAD promotes international academic exchange. It also acts as the intermediary organization in the field of foreign culture, education and educational cooperation with less-developed countries. Among other information, this website provides information on the German higher education system and on studies in German, on admissions to studies in German, on the scholarships and funding provided by the DAAD.

Baden-Wuerttemberg Fellowship Program

Eligibility:
Undergraduates, Graduates, and Doctorates

Students applying for this scholarship should have appropriate language skills in German which will enable them to conduct their studies or research in Tuebingen without difficulties or good German 'survival' skills in those cases where students apply for one of our English language programs.

Halide Edip Adıvar Prize

Awarded by the Turkish Studies Association, the aim of the Adıvar Prize is to introduce Turkey to students who have not had extensive prior experience in Turkey or Turkish studies. This $1,000 USD scholarship is awarded qualified undergraduate students in any discipline in support of travel to Turkey for the purpose of study or research. The student must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an institution of higher education and must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. or Canada.

American Research Institute in Turkey

Eligibility:
U.S. citizen, upper-level undergraduate students of Turkish, 3.0 GPA, a minimum of 2 years of college-level Turkish. Fellowships cover tuition for advanced Turkish language study. Summer Fellowship for Turkish Language Study are also available.

Institute for Turkish Studies/ Turkish Cultural Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by the Office of International Programs to students studying at the McGhee Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies in Alanya, Turkey. No application is required; however students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to students with financial need.

National Italian American Foundation

The NIAF awards scholarships ranging from $2500 to $10000 on the basis of academic merit to students in two categories of students:

General Category I:
Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements. Area of study: open.

General Category II:
Those students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language, Italian studies, Italian American studies or a related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements.

John C Phelan General Course Scholarships

This scholarship is for students applying to London School of Economics only.

John Phelan is a Member of the Board of the LSE Centennial Fund. His scholarships support the General Course, which he attended and the Financial Management Group whose work is close to his own professional interests as a distinguished money manager. There are three scholarships available for those starting the General Course in 2008/09. Each scholarship has a value of £7,000.

Eligibility

This scholarship is available for study on the General Course. It will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Applicants must be American nationals and currently living in the USA.
